34th Americas Cup won´t be held in Valencia

The chances of the next America's Cup to be held in San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Coit Tower in the background have today been put at the top of the list and ruled out any chances that Valencia may have had at hosting the next edition of the most important sailing competition .

The Golden Gate Yacht Club has reached an agreement with BMW Oracle, defender of the America's Cup, and now the Board of Supervisors must approve the agreement so that the most important sailing competition in the world can move from Valencia to the U.S.. Six of the 11 supervisors are co-sponsors of the draft agreement.
The Board of Supervisors voted 9-2 to approve the date of October 5 for a list of conditions prior to the agreement to help raise 270 million dollars needed to cover the costs of organizing the race.

"I think this is more than significant," said Tom Ehman, spokesman for the GGYC and member of its Committee of the Copa America. "It'sa great step forward for the 34 th edition of the Americas Cup and San Francisco Bay could not be a better place for sailing. Personally, I GGYC and we are very excited about the prospects and excited about this new development."
Mayor Gavin Newsom, agrees.."There is no better partner for the America's Cup than in San Francisco," said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom in a statement. ''This is the opportunity of a lifetime, we should not pass up. "

The only oposition to San Francisco is Italy, having confirmed that Valencia could only be host to a "preliminary" round and not the finals. "I think it's fair to say that if Italy did not meet or exceed what is offered from San Francisco, San Francisco will hopefully give the okay," said Ehman. "We have to wait to see if supervisors approve it and we have to wait to see the final offer from Italy."

NEW OFFICE POLICY

Dress Code:

1) You are advised to come to work dressed according to your salary.

2) If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we will assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise.

3) If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise.

4) If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a raise.

Sick Days:
We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Personal Days:
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturdays & Sundays.

Bathroom Breaks:
Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the stall door will open, and a picture will be taken. After your second offense, your picture will be posted on the company bulletin board under the 'Chronic Offenders' category. Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sectioned under the company's mental health policy.

Lunch Break:

* Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more, so that they can look healthy.

* Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure.

* Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.

Valencia Open 500 2010 - Ferrer Wins

The Valencia open 500 brought a great atmosphere in its all Spanish final between David Ferrer and David Granollers, with Ferrer the final winner of a tense match in front of more than 6000 spectators.

 After the match David Ferrer said.."Today is the happiest day in my life”. A very exited Ferrer, showed his appreciation for his team, starting with Javier Piles, his parents, his girlfriend, and also Juan Carlos Ferrero, who gave him the trophy. Also adding.. “I feel incredibly happy. Winning this match for this audience has made today the happiest day in my life. I have won this tournament thanks to the support of the audience and I am very thankful.” The world’s no.8 player is also co-owner of the tournament and with this win has booked his place in London. 

The second edition of the Valencia Open 500 closed with figures that exceed those of last year in most of aspects. Over 190,000 people visited the FUNPARK, the free leisure area that the Valencia Open 500, since its doors opened on October 30th. Both tennis fans and the general public had the chance to walk around all the commercial booths, eat at the food area, have a few drinks in one of the terraces or meet their idols in autograph signings. Also, there were many activities for both, kids and adults. The first weekend alone had over 15,000 people visiting the City of Arts and Science, and this figure kept growing throughout the week.

Ticket sales reached 70,000, much higher than the first year at 53,000, with the quarterfinals, semifinals and final practically all sold out.
David Serrahina, The Executive Director of the tournament, said they were very satisfied with the figures of this second edition of the Valencia Open 500. “We have renewed our hopes to make this tournament an open one, open to everyone, and also to make it one of the most important tournaments worldwide in the near future. The tournament has now consolidated, and we have had the chance to watch top-quality tennis. We hope the public, and also tennis fans, have enjoyed and have found enough reasons to come back next year”.

Nearly 500 journalists from all around the world were at the tournament. They belonged to 135 different means from written and digital press, radios, tv, and photographers. The matches have been watched from sixty different countries in all five continents.

Ryan air re-open their base in Manises, Valencia

Manises Airport (Valencia) has released seventeen new routes with the arrival of the month of November, beginning the winter season, which will have a total of 53 destinations and an average of 170 daily operations.

New enhancements by Ryanair include routes to Fuerteventura, Santiago, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Munich, Marseille, Liechtenstein, Venice, Paris, Porto and Marrakesh.

In addition, new connections by other airlines are Air Berlin, which flies to and from Vienna, TAP Lisbon and Oporto, Swissair to Zurich, Spanair to Algiers and Turkish Airlines to Istanbul.

Of the 53 destinations that will feature in the winter season, 19 from or to Spain, 31 to Europe and three in North Africa, all operated by a total of 18 airlines.

Flights to Spain are the airports of A Coruña, Asturias, Barcelona, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Leon, Madrid, Malaga, Menorca, Melilla, Palma de Mallorca, Santiago de Compostela, Sevilla, Tenerife Norte, Tenerife Sur , Valladolid and Vigo.

The destinations for the rest of Europe are several airports in Liechtenstein, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, United Kingdom, Malta, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Romania and Bulgaria, while in North Africa are Morocco and Algeria.

They recalled that the change of season coincides with winter time in the entire European Union, it is common for all European air transport and is intended for companies to adjust their flight schedules to changes in demand that occur in autumn and winter.
