33rd America's Cup in Valencia - What happened?....

Following a couple of years in the courts of New York, finally the 33rd Americas Cup took place in Valencia between the holders Alinghi and BMW Oracle. Don´t ask me how BMW Oracle won the right to be the only challengers, because I don´t even the think courts knew how!
Anyway... in February 2010 the 33rd Americas Cup got underway.

The 33rd America's Cup was a Deed of Gift Match: The first team to win two races is the winner of the 33rd America’s Cup.

BMW ORACLE Racing, won the 33rd America’s Cup Match in Valencia, beating the Swiss defender, Alinghi, 2-0.
The first race was won by 15.28 minutes and the second by 5.26.

Following the huge success of the 32nd Americas Cup organised by Alinghi in Valencia, this 33rd edition passed almost un-noticed, a couple of years in and out of courts took the shine off the whole event, and with a last minute date and venue being set, there was little time to organise anything spectacular. Also the lack of teams killed the event.

Now, we wait and see what the Americans will do for the 34th Americas Cup, in the build up to the 33rd, they made it very clear that would hold the event in Valencia if they won, BUT watch this space. There is a meeting next week with the Italian Challengers of Record Mascalzone Latino in Rome. Soon we will know more.
