San Juan Summer Solstice Celebrations in Valencia and Alicante

Celebrate Summer Solciste in Valencia and Alicante The 20th-26th June is a major celebration in Alicante, with their version of Valencia´s Las Fallas, "Hogueras de San Juan festival".  The tradition is also celebrated in Valencia on the night of San Juan, 23rd June where the biggest beach party you will ever see takes place... The tradition is to use the natural elements of fire and sea to purify bad memories and bring promise of better times. At midnight the whole coast of the Valencia Region will be lined by thousands of people wetting there feet, jumping over 7 waves, and passing the night celebrating on the beaches. Bonfires light the coastline, another tradition, of jumping the flames to bring good luck.
