Every September Barcelona holds its biggest festival, incorporating 100´s of outdoor performances in honour of the patron saint of Barcelona La Merce. The 24th of September is a public holiday in Barcelona and is the start of this amazing festival which continues through the whole weekend. Barcelona is twinned with Dakhar, capital city of Senegal and together the 2 cities organise art and dance projects including traditional dance and music from their own areas. The streets of Bareclona will be filled with contemporary street performers, puppeteers, dancers and theatre while the night brings spectacular light shows.
