Valencia Open 500 2010 - Big names to attend

The Valencia Open 500 2010 is proud to announce that 5 of the World´s top 10 players will be present at this years tournament from 30th October to 7th November. Murray (holder), Soderling, Davydenko, Ferrer, Ferrero and Tsonga will also be joined by a further 8 players withing the top 15 of the ATP circuit..Youzhny, Del Potro, Monfils, Chela, Almagro, Simon, Wawrinka and Robredo help make up a very interesting line up.
 
The Valencia Open 500 2010 is held at the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of arts and science) from the 30th of October with the final taking place on the 7th November. The entries include the World´s Nºs 4,5,6,8,9,11,12,15 ranked players and sees the return of Del Potro from injury since the beginning of 2010, when he was ranked 4th in the World. 
 
Antonio Martínez Cascales, Tournament Director expressed his satisfaction with the line up: “once again we have made a firm commitment to bring the top players and the level is going to be really high. We are very satisfied because the vast majority of the players who came last year were really happy with the venue and have decided to come back this time around. We also hope that those players who are making their debut here feel right at home at the Tournament. We are a young tournament, but the experience we have from last year will help us to improve this year, continue to grow and consolidate ourselves”.

Large Spanish Presence

Once again, Spanish players make up an important part of the Tournament adding to the atmopshere with the home crowd at the Agora Stadium. Spanish players confirmed include Davis Cup winners David Ferrer, Feliciano López (24) and Fernando Verdasco, Juan Carlos Ferrero (26) other Spanish players signed up include - Nicolás Almagro (16), Guillermo García-López (54), Albert Montañés (22) and Tommy Robredo (40).

 

Tournament Title Holder - Andy Murray

Andy Murray won the Valencia Open 500 in 2009 and therefore starts this year as Nº1 seed. The first day will start with qualifying games to be followed on the Sunday with the 1st round proper. The spectacular centre court in the Agora Stadium will stage 31 games. There is also once again the Wheelchair Valencia Open 500 with eight players entered and will take place from the 5th - 7th November. 

 

More Seating at the Valencia open 500 

A greater capacity at the Agora stadium, means this years tickets available have increased by 23,000 on last years as well as an increase in sessions being held, increased from 11 to 13 with 4 night sessions. The FUNPARK, which makes the Valencia Open 500 unique, will also be expanded this year, an area of shops, restaurants and bars open to the general public situated in the impressive area around the Prince Felipe Science Museum. This year will see a new VIP zone and The Open Club which will also be bigger than last year.
